LeBron’s Step Daddy, Delonte West, is Banned from White House Visit

On Monday, the 2011 NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks will finally meet President Barack Obama in the White House. However, that visit will be without one player: Delonte West. And it has nothing to do with the fact that he wasn’t playing with Dallas last season, but instead, it is because of his criminal record. When someone tours the White House, every visitor must go under a background check and let’s just say that Delonte isn’t quite qualified.

“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it,” West said after tonight’s 96-81 win over the New Orleans “But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House. That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House.’’

Those “bad decisions” that he speaks of may have something to do with pleading guilty to a 2009 weapons charge after driving a three-wheeled motorcycle with a shotgun strapped to his back. But at least West can still put a positive spin on the whole thing, “it’s going to be ashamed the President isn’t going to get a chance to meet me. I’m the president of my house.’’
