While the Nike Zoom Kaiju snowboarding boot built for Nicolas Müller was limited to only 1000 pairs worldwide when it released this week, meaning it’s not statistically likely you’ll get a pair, it’s worth a look anyway: blending art and innovation, it’s practically a masterpiece. Ensuring all eyes will be on Müller, the Kaiju sports a rather conspicuous exterior, with art by ITES, but the true star of the show is the technology.
An internal Flywire ankle harness locks down the foot, as do the webbing lace system and neoprene eyestays. Meanwhile the Nike Free-inspired sole unit sports Zoom Air and cushy Phylon foam for protection, and the outlast temperature-controlled liner and footbed are joined by a heat-moldable liner for customized fit.
